Selecting A Mover
First of all make sure your mover is registered with the state of North Carolina, and has a C#. This is a four digit number that will let you know the moving company is compliant with the North Carolina Utilities Commission. This means the moving company has the state required insurance coverage, that they are experienced in the moving industry, and that they don't charge more than the state limits for moving, and transportation fees. Also remember bigger doesn't mean better. Typically large chains lack important communication, and a sense of satisfying the customer. Make sure your mover is attenive to your needs, and really cares about your move, and not your payment at the end. A good mover will do everything possible to make your move go well.
Selecting a mover
Deciding on a mover can be difficult. This is not the time to be shy. Make sure you fully understand the services the moving company offers and the rate at which those services can be provided. It's also wise to check your state's moving and storage association to learn local regulations that apply to movers in your area.
Below is a list of questions you should ask moving companies as you shop for the perfect fit.
*Is your moving company licensed and Insured?
*Does your company charge by the hour for local and long distance moves? (Hourly Rates should be for local moves only)
*What is your minimum charge, or labor time?
*Do you charge extra for larger items such as pianos, large screen televisions, or any extra flights of stairs to move items on? (Most movers do charge extra)
*Do you charge for the travel time from your office to my home?
*Do you charge extra for weekend and evening moves?
*Do you accept credit cards?
*Do you use temps and day labor? (Don't trust a person your moving company doesn't even know)
*Are your employees properly trained?
*Can I reschedule my move if something comes up?
*Do you offer free estimates? (Try to get a written estimate if possible)
*Can you give me any tips on how to make my move go smoothly?
*Are your drivers equipped with a cell phone should I need to contact them the day of the move?
Asking these questions can help you make an important decision, and avoid any unneccesary headaches and confusion.
